What a whirlwind of a summer! I started June thinking I would be staying home, preparing for missionary training in August, knitting, spending time with my family. I ended June in Czech Republic! We went very quickly from "they opened the borders, let's get things together for me to go" to "I'm flying today!" Two weeks of quarantine, in which I planned a menu and began ordering food and supplies for camp, an intense weekend of deep cleaning and organizing the kitchen, and three wonderful weeks of ministry in and out of the kitchen. The Lord placed a hedge of protection around our property and no matter what Satan tried to do to deter us, children heard and responded to the gospel! I'm so thankful for the opportunity to go back for just that short time and be a part of ministry again. I'm still amazed that we were able to have camp, still blown away by the health the Lord blessed us all with. Praise the Lord for 32 new believers and the many young believers who made the decision to grow in their relationship with the Lord.
One of those kids is a boy that has been attending our Bible club in a nearby town for several years. He gave his life to Lord last year and we were overjoyed that he had become part of the family. This year he had many great discussions with his counselor about God and salvation and spiritual growth and bravely shared his testimony on Thursday night.
I was also able to catch up with Miriam, one of my dear friends. She attended the Bible Institute in Hungary this past year and has joined our team as an intern!! Miriam has come to camp for years, both as a camper and a volunteer, as well as been part of other ministries with us, and we are thrilled that she has made the decision to work full-time in missions. This was not an easy decision for her and she has faced many obstacles, but the Lord continues to faithfully provide for her needs. I am so encouraged as I watch her raise support and face the difficulties with humble strength. She has a huge heart for her fellow Czechs and a love for the Lord that pours into everything she does.
I am now in Florida, waiting for the missionary training that starts August 2nd. After that week, I will (hopefully) have been approved as a full-time missionary with Word of Life and I will fly back to New York to begin support raising. Because of the restrictions currently in place, I have to quarantine when I get there, so it will still be a couple weeks before I can start traveling and meeting in person. But my plan is still to be back in Czech by the end of the year, so I will be working hard to set up appointments and line up conversations during that time.

Over the past several months, we have all been impacted in many ways by the corona virus. Whether that be unemployment, missing concerts and parties and vacations that we looked forward to, being cooped up in our homes with nowhere to go, not meeting with our church family. But the impacts have not all been negative! Because of corona virus, I was able to go back to Czech for summer camps this year. Because of corona virus we staffed the camp entirely with locals (which hasn't happened in a long time)! Because of corona virus, we were able to partner with missionary families in Czech and Slovakia that are not always available during the summer time as they are normally doing their own camps. Because of corona virus, I was able to meet a missionary family on the plane who are ministering in Germany and be encouraged by their desire to reach Germans with the gospel! Despite all the negative impacts, the Lord continues to work, continues to provide, continues to protect.
Prayer Requests
- for Miriam as she continues to raise support
- for all of the kids who heard the gospel this summer: that those who made decisions would continue to grow and those who haven't yet made a decision would remember what they learned and make that decision soon
- for health and safety as others travel here for missionary training, and then as we all travel home.
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers!
Love in Christ,
Adele
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works in us,
to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations,
forever and ever. Amen."
Ephesians 3:20-21
