It's Fall Y'all!!

Fall is my favorite season. The leaves changing colors, the harvesting, and of course the cooler evenings that mean I can wear all my handknits!! I hope and pray you are all enjoying the weather as much as I am!

Red leaves are my favorite!! They are so vibrant!

September has been a wonderful month of appointments, reconnections, and travel. I’ve been able to meet with so many people who have lived life with me in some fashion over the last 24 years – some only for a few of my years at the Bible Institute, some my whole life from my home church, some very recent from missions trips to Czech to help us with camp the last two years. There are a lot of new people getting my update this month so welcome to all of you and thank you for joining my team!!

I went to visit Hannah and we had a mini photo shoot with my latest sweater!

As exciting as team building is for me, it can be a little mundane and repetitive, so I thought this month I would share a little more about my heart for the Deaf community and also talk about a huge accomplishment that the American Christian Deaf community is celebrating – the completion of the ASL Bible!!

The Deaf community is the largest unreached people group in the world. Over 70 million people spread out all around the world, using between 150 and 300 sign languages, and only one or two in every hundred have clearly understood the Gospel and accepted Christ as their Savior. And I would venture to say the vast majority of those “one or two” are here in America. The Deaf community has worked hard for years to be understood and accepted and within the United States they have succeeded on many levels. But there still remains a lack of resources, especially within the Christian community. Language is based on sound, and that makes it difficult for the Deaf to read. The Bible is best understood in their heart language – Sign Language. Just like any other project to translate the Bible into another language, this takes years of hard work, thousands of dollars, and the dedication of hundreds of people. This is the ministry I want to be involved in, helping the Deaf community in the Czech Republic to translate the Bible into Czech Sign Language.

Praise the Lord that the American Sign Language translation of the Bible was just recently completed! Over the last 40 years, several different teams have worked together to translate and record the Bible in American Sign Language (ASL). Sign Languages are unique in the world of languages in that they are visual. This means that in order to have the Bible in a Sign Language, you not only need Biblical scholars and people fluent in all languages involved, you also need excellent recording equipment and a stationery place to set up a plain background to record against. It’s definitely not very conducive to travel or work-from-home situations! The resulting videos are absolutely wonderful. Sign Language is so beautiful and expressive. I encourage you to go watch some of these videos, especially the ones in Psalms. The website is https://deaf.bible/ and you’ll be able to choose the language and then the passage. There was an excellent article in Christianity Today as well, with some details about the project and the people that worked to make the Bible truly accessible to the Deaf community in America. I am so glad that the ASL version has been completed and I look forward to being part of seeing the Bible become available in Czech Sign Language too!!

Building my investment team has been and will continue to be my focus for this fall. My desire is to be back in Czech by the end of the year, and I must reach 100% before I can leave. I currently have about 42% of my monthly goal, 33% of my set-up goal, and 20% of my prayer warriors goal!!

If you would like to know more about my ministry in the Czech Republic and opportunities for investment, please reach out to me!! Text or call me: 716-903-6938; message me on Facebook; or email me: deledosie@gmail.com. Especially if a certain week or month works better for you, so we can arrange something around your schedule!!

Thank you all for your continued support and prayers! I would not be able to do this without each and every single one of you. I truly appreciate all of you and praise the Lord for the team of people who stand all around me, supporting me in so many ways. God bless you all!!

Love in Christ,

Adele
